Thermal Smoothing Systems - the fully automated smoothing process that replaces sanding and multiple preparation steps for cut and routed products manufactured from Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF).
Powder coating is the most exciting finishing method to be introduced in the past 100 years. Powder coating offers significant performance improvements and reduced costs whilst offering the best solution to meeting environmental regulation, both now and in the future. Powder coatings are sometimes called "dry paint" and are a blend of dry powdered products. The ultimate success of any powder coating depends on its nature, composition and condition. Powder coating is applied to a product to be coated via electrostatic charge or fluidised dip.
Traditionally a variety of curing options have been used to meet the common requirements of around 200°C for curing periods of 10 to 20 minutes. This has limited the potential size of the powder market compared to liquid systems which do not have the constraints of products being temperature sensitive and non-conductive. Until now this has limited the market scope to products that can withstand exposure to very hot temperatures for significant periods of time such as aluminium windows and doors, lawn mowers and metal furniture.
The new advanced powder coating solutions offered by NuTech's partners now operate at significantly reduced temperatures and curing cycles. NuTech can now offer powder coating solutions for an entirely new range of products including woods and plastics.
Process
These new range of powder solutions for industry interconnect with each part of the process. The process can be broken up into the 3 key areas of:

Powders - Dupont's new advanced powder coatings;

Curing systems for heat sensitive products - Triab provide highly advanced patented UV and ULB curing technology;

High speed curing systems – Adphos provide patanted NIR curing technology for large volume coating requirements.
These new advanced powder coating solutions have evolved out of the strategic alliances DuPont has built with Triab and AdPhos. They have worked together to specifically design an integrated approach linking the powder development to the powder curing process.
Markets
In assessing the new emerging markets for powder coating NuTech realised that a complete solution for customers was required in order to promote a new commercial process. A disjointed approach or reliance on other parties in order to link a project together without technical background was not considered. NuTech has been able to structure the new business to provide a total support package to new customers, on the basis of the existing associations between DuPont, Triab and AdPhos. This total support includes access to technical support; laboratory developments; R&D; pilot trials and large scale customers' trials; feasibility reports; complete turnkey project solutions; and representation at major international exhibitions.
NuTech is seeking out industry leaders in Australia that can benefit from our partners' technology. NuTech will provide product and market protection to strengthen its relationships that are long term based on supply contracts and ongoing technical support.
Customers will enter into a true partnership with NuTech, so that its business is not one based on loyalty dictated by price alone. Working with industry leaders also ensures that product quality conforms with international standards which in turn protects NuTech's reputation and delivers a world class product to the consumer.
NuTech has installed and commissioned the first turnkey solution into a state of the art factory owned by Schiavello Group Pty Ltd at Tullamarine in Melbourne. The new UV MDF powder coating lines is part of the expansion of Schiavello's office fit out and furniture business. Schiavello is Australia's largest manufacturer in this industry with 50% of the Australian market. This factory is the largest of its type in the Southern Hemisphere and is a showpiece for the new advanced powder coating solutions. This facility will also provide to NuTech the opportunity to actually demonstrate the great benefits of these solutions to Australian industry and assist greatly in the continuing commercialisation of the technologies into Australia.
NuTech's long term goals are to build many strong customer partnerships with Australian industry leaders and to establish itself as the market leader in this field. It will achieve this by providing great service and support to its technology partners and customers; continuing to deliver to the Australian market new opportunities from DuPont, Triab and AdPhos; and creating a centre of excellence for new technology powders.
