A Near Field Communication (NFC) Patent is used for Tap and Pay
As part of the continuing upgrade and improvement of CPC’s patent portfolio a further
US patent
has been granted for the Near Field Communication (NFC) technology inside any mobile or portable computing device that will enable cashless payment applications to be incorporated. This technology is not subject to any litigation.
NFC technology is standard around the world and allows multiple devices, smartphones, tablets, and biometrics credentials to be used on the same payment platform.
NFC technology is being used for in-person contactless payments; however, with an increase in the need for smooth authentication on all e-Commerce channels, researchers anticipate that 64% percent of payments will be made using mobile phones by 2030.
The Global Payments Report of July 2025 reported; “global transaction value of digital payments at POS in 2014 was US$1.2t, in 2024 it was US$14.2t and is estimated in 2030 to be US$25t.”
