These upgrades allow users to dispense with using passwords for secure access to their mobile devices by the user creating secure passkeys using biometrics – FaceID and TouchID in Apple’s operating system updates.
Charter Pacific has brought infringement proceedings against Apple in USA and Australia which allege Apple’s FaceID and TouchID infringe its “Remote Entry System” (the enrolment of the biometric signature) ‘705’ and ‘039’ patents that impact some 61 Apple products in the market place globally.
The Australian Newspaper article (see link above) describes the substantial software upgrades to Apple’s operating systems for its products currently being sold and used by hundreds of millions of users globally everyday using the FaceID and TouchID to gain secure access to mobile devices and to authorise secure transactions on those devices.
